The Project

So, I've been fascinated with tool sheds for years. Everytime I go to Lowe's or Home Depot, I always check out their displays in the parking lot. They have some 2 story sheds that I swear I could live in, if necessary! Well, I saved up and bought one a couple of weeks ago. I got the 10'x8' shed, although I really wanted the larger one (10'x14'). The larger one wasn't too much more expensive, but after reading the online comments, I was afraid I would have a hard time erecting the larger shed by myself. Anyway... I got the shed home (after renting a truck) and construction began the next day. I got the frame built, the walls erected, the gables in place and most of the roof installed.

I was on the next to last piece of roofing, and BAM!!! The sheet metal slammed down on my hand and sliced my left index finger-- almost sliced the whole thing off! I went to the hospital and got stitched up. I also learned that I severed the tendon, so I have to see an orthopedic specialist this week. Repairing the tendon will require surgery. Luckily I have insurance... but unluckily, I have a $3000 deductable. I don't know what the surgery will cost, but I will have to pay for it out of pocket, and that money will go towards the deductable. Just what I needed, when money is already tight.

I haven't given up on the shed- it is so close to being finished. I put the doors together yesterday and hope to install them, and the last piece of roofing tomorrow. After that, I can install the roof cap and be done with it.
